UTSA to host Stephen F. Austin, Prairie View A&M this week

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA baseball team will conclude its home stand this week by hosting two non-conference opponents at Roadrunner Field. The Roadrunners will face Stephen F. Austin at 6 p.m. Tuesday and then play Prairie View A&M at 6 p.m. the following day.

TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY GAMES TO BE STREAMED ON FACEBOOK LIVE
Both of the midweek contests will appear on Facebook Live this week. The games will be streamed on the UTSA Athletics Facebook page.

UTSA (16-13) dropped two of three games last weekend to then-No. 22 Louisiana Tech at the Bird Bath. The Roadrunners won the middle game of the series, 4-3, as Ben Brookover notched a walk-off single in the 11th inning on Saturday.

Brookover and Bryan Arias both had impressive showings at the plate last week.

In four games, Arias led UTSA with a .471 batting average (8 for 17) with three doubles, one RBI and two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Brookover hit .438 (7 for 16) with four RBIs.

Nathan Alexander will start on the mound for the Roadrunners in Tuesday night's contest. Wednesday night's starting pitcher has yet to be announced.

The Lumberjacks (11-20) dropped two of three games to Southland foe Northwestern State in Natchitoches, La., last weekend. SFA won the finale, 6-5, in 15 innings to salvage the set.

Tuesday night's tilt marks the 41st time the two teams will meet on the diamond. UTSA holds a 26-14 advantage in the all-time series, which dates back to the 1992 campaign. The Roadrunners have won five consecutive meetings, including a three-game sweep of the Lumberjacks last year in San Antonio.

The Panthers (8-21) won two of three in a SWAC series against Grambling State last weekend, as Prairie View A&M took the final two games of the set. The Panthers will play at Incarnate Word on Tuesday night before traveling across the city to play Wednesday's contest.

UTSA is 18-1 all-time against Prairie View A&M, but the Panthers won a 6-5 decision last season in San Antonio.
