SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team overcame a 3-1 deficit to upend UT Arlington, 4-3, on Friday at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners (12-11) won the doubles point after clinching the matchups at the second and third positions. However, the Mavericks (10-11) picked up points at Nos. 1, 3 and 6 singles to take a 3-1 lead.
Joao Ceolin won in straight sets (6-2, 6-2) at the fifth spot to get UTSA within one. Kai Breitbach tied the contest after rallying from a set down to defeat Enrique Pardo at the second flight (4-6, 6-4, 6-3).
Javier Gonzalez then clinched the match after outlasting Sansidh Kommaraju in three sets (6-4, 5-7, 6-3) at the fourth spot.
The Roadrunners will wrap up the regular season on Sunday against Lamar. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
