SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's tennis squad will wrap up its home slate with a pair of contests this weekend at the UTSA Tennis Center. The Roadrunners will match up against UTEP at 3 p.m. Friday before turning around to host Louisiana Tech at 11 a.m. Sunday.
UTSA (6-10) has dropped three of its last four contests, including a 4-1 setback against Marquette last Saturday. The Roadrunners' lone point in the match came at the second singles position, as Laura Cabrera captured a straight-sets victory.
Cabrera continues to lead UTSA in singles action. The Barcelona, Spain, native is 12-4 in individual matchups, which includes three consecutive triumphs. Charleen Tiwari is also enjoying a successful spring with a 10-7 ledger in singles competition.
The combination of Tiwari and Ivana Ilic led the doubles pairings, as the partners have combined for six wins.
The Miners (6-11) enter the weekend following a split in their last two contests. UTEP defeated Angelo State, 5-2, last Friday, but were trumped by New Mexico, 4-0, a day later.
Meanwhile, the Lady Techsters (7-8) have won two of their last three tilts, but suffered a 4-1 setback against Northwestern State on Monday.
Following this weekend's matches, the Roadrunners are scheduled to close out the regular season in a rescheduled match at UT Arlington. The contest will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, in Arlington.
