SAN ANTONIO – UTSA will begin a four-game home stand at Roadrunner Field on Tuesday night, as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi visits for a 6 p.m. non-conference tilt.
The Roadrunners (24-18) are coming off a 3-1 week the included a series victory at Middle Tennessee over the weekend.
UTSA hit .351 in four games last week. Tony Beam led the way with a .500 batting average (5 for 10) with a home run and seven RBIs. Ryan Stacy also hit .375 with two home runs and six RBIs during the week.
On the mound, Steven Dressler logged the team's first complete game of the year after scattering nine hits and allowing only one run in a win against the Blue Raiders.
The Islanders (21-24) dropped two of three games against Central Arkansas in a Southland Conference series over the weekend. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi won the first game of the set but dropped the final two.
Itchy Burts leads the Islanders with a .389 batting average.
The pitching staff for A&M-Corpus Christi owns a 4.54 ERA.
The Roadrunners defeated the Islanders, 6-1, on April 17 in Corpus Christi. Palmer Wenzel came out of the bullpen to toss 5.2 scoreless frames and strike out seven to lead UTSA to the victory.
Nathan Alexander (1-1, 4.50 ERA) will get the start on the mound for the Roadrunners. The right-hander started the April 17 game against A&M-Corpus Christi, giving up one run on six hits in 3.1 innings.
Meanwhile, the Islanders are expected to counter with left-hander Cody Lecompte (1-1, 1.93 ERA), who has not started a game this year, but does have 15 relief appearances.
