SAN ANTONIO – Dylan Rock hit a single with two outs in the 10th inning to drive in Ben Brookover from third base and allow UTSA to walk off with a 5-4 win against FIU in the Conference USA series finale on Sunday at Roadrunner Field.
Brookover, who had three extra-base hits, started the rally with a two-out double that carried over Seth Cannady's head in center field. The senior first baseman then advanced to third base after Tyler Myrick uncorked a wild pitch.
Rock hit a soft liner that had enough carry to get past the outstretched glove of shortstop Derek Cartaya and land in shallow left field, allowing Brookover to score the winning run.
The Roadrunners (21-17, 9-8 C-USA) led 4-1 entering the seventh, but the Panthers (18-21, 8-10 C-USA) received a solo home run from Jose Garcia in the seventh and then plated a pair unearned runs with two outs in the eighth to pull even.
After a scoreless ninth inning, Derek Craft worked around a hit batter in the 10th to keep FIU from scoring before UTSA logged its third walk-off win of the season.
Craft (3-3) picked up the win after pitching 2.1 scoreless with five strikeouts.
Chance Kirby received a no-decision despite allowing only one run on three hits and fanning six in six innings.
Myrick (1-2) took the loss after giving up the run in the final stanza on two hits.
UTSA will return to action Tuesday against cross-town foe Incarnate Word. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Roadrunner Field.
