Roadrunners to travel to J. Fred Duckett Twilight on Saturday

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA track & field is scheduled to compete in the annual J. Fred Duckett Twilight on Saturday at Rice University's Wendel D. Ley Track & Holloway Field.
 
The event
The one-day meet gets underway at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the men's discus throw. Field events will continue throughout the day, concluding with the men's and women's high jump in the 6 p.m. hour. The track events start at 3 p.m. with preliminary rounds of the sprint events. The action continues well into the evening with the meet wrapping up in the 10 p.m. hour with the women's 5,000-meter run.
 
Admission for Saturday's meet will be $10 for adults (18 & over), $5 for youth (3-17) and free for children under three.

Inclement weather is forecasted for the Houston area on Saturday. All weather updates regarding the event will be posted via the Rice track & field Twitter account (@RiceTFXC). 
 
The competition
In addition to the Roadrunners, the event will feature top men's and women's athletes from Cameron, Dallas Baptist, Houston, Incarnate Word, Lamar, Oberlin, Prairie View, Rice, Sam Houston St., South Florida, Southwestern Assemblies of God, St. Edwards, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas Southern, UTRGV.
 
Roadrunner competitors
UTSA will field 93 total entries, 51 men and 42 women individual entries along with both the men's and women's 4x100m relays entering the starting blocks.
 
UTSA in the national rankings
Through five weeks of the outdoor season, the Roadrunners men have four marks that rank among the top 50 nationally and the women two. Adrian Riley ranks ninth in the NCAA in the decathlon and 19th in the long jump and Prince ranks 15th in the 110m hurdles. Gabriyella Torres ranks 42nd in the heptathlon and Danielle Spence 47th in the triple jump.
 
UTSA in the NCAA West Preliminary qualifying list
After five meets a total of 10 Roadrunners stand in position to qualify for the 2018 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field West Preliminary via top-48 rankings (top 24 for relays) in the west region.

(note: Riley is also qualified to advance the national championship in the decathlon, which is not contested in the preliminary round)

UTSA in the Conference USA rankings
The Roadrunners hold 51 top-10 and 26 top-5 positions on the Conference USA performance list. Prince leads the way for the Roadrunners with the league's best 110m hurdles time (13.79).
