UTSA set for Conference USA Women’s Golf Championship

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will travel to Fort Myers, Fla., for the Conference USA Women's Golf Championship on Monday-Wednesday, April 16-18, at Verandah Club (par 72/6,194 yards).

The Roadrunners will compete against Charlotte, FIU, Florida Atlantic, Middle Tennessee, North Texas, UAB, UTEP and WKU for the league crown. The field will play 18 holes with tee times beginning at 7 a.m. Central time each day. Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com.

UTSA finished third at last year's C-USA Championship behind the trio of Julie Houston, Nikki Long and Aimee Ponte, who tied for 13th place at 7-over-par 223. The Roadrunners carded an 889 (298-297-294) to claim the bronze behind Old Dominion (876) and Middle Tennessee (884).

UTSA has captured a pair of league team titles, winning back-to-back Southland Conference championships in 2011-12. The Roadrunners have finished second twice (2009 Southland, 2014 C-USA), and are riding a 10-year streak of placing fourth or better at conference tournaments. Three Roadrunners have claimed individual crowns — Fabiola Arriaga (2014 C-USA), Allie Jordan (2009 Southland) and Shannon Jungman (2012 Southland).

Ana Gonzalez tied for 41st to lead the Roadrunners to 15th place at the Bruzzy Challenge in Carrollton, Texas, in their last outing.
