Roadrunners travel to Texas Invitational this weekend

SAN ANTONIO – UTSA track & field will send full teams to the Texas Invitational in Austin on Friday and Saturday. The meet is the fifth of the season for the Roadrunners.
 
The event
The two-day meet gets underway at 10 a.m. on Friday with the women's hammer throw at Myers Stadium. Field events will continue throughout Friday, concluding with the men's and women shot put in the 7 p.m. hour. Friday's track events start at 6:30 p.m. with the women's 200m dash and will wrap up in the 8 p.m. hour with the men's 1,500m run.
 
Saturday's action gets started at 10 a.m. with the women's 5,000m run. The track events will continue into the 3 p.m. hour and will wrap with the men's 4x400m relay. The men's discus scheduled for 10:30 a.m. is Saturday's first field event. The field events conclude in the 2 p.m. hour with the women's high jump.
 
The competition
In addition to the Roadrunners, the event will feature top men's and women's athletes from Baylor, Houston, Kansas State, McNeese State, Michigan, Northwood, Princeton, Stephen F. Austin, Texas, Texas State, Texas Tech, UT Arlington and UTEP.

UTSA will field 91 total entries, 54 men and 33 women individual entries along with both the men's and women's 4x100m relays and a pair of men's 4x400m relay teams entering the starting blocks.
 
UTSA in the national rankings
Through the first four weeks of the outdoor season, the Roadrunners men have five marks that rank among the top 50 nationally and the women two. Adrian Riley ranks eighth in the NCAA in the decathlon and 15 in the long jump, Prince ranks 11th in the 110m hurdles, Andre Douglas 39th in the triple jump and Jake McDaniel 43rd in the decathlon. Gabriyella Torres ranks 34th in the heptathlon and Danielle Spence 35th in the triple jump.
 
UTSA in the NCAA West Preliminary qualifying list
After four meets a total of 13 Roadrunners stand in position to qualify for the 2018 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field West Preliminary via top-48 rankings (top 24 for relays) in the west region.

The Roadrunners hold 52 top-10 positions on the Conference USA performance list. Top mark holders are Prince (110m hurdles), the women's 4x100m and 4x400m relays and Riley (long jump).
