Arias homers in UTSA loss to Stephen F. Austin

SAN ANTONIO – Bryan Arias hit his fourth home run of the season, but UTSA dropped a 5-1 decision to visiting Stephen F. Austin on Tuesday night at Roadrunner Field.

The Lumberjacks (12-20) scored in the opening frame and then plated four runs in the sixth to take command of the non-conference contest.

Arias belted a solo round-tripper in the eighth inning, snapping a 14-inning scoreless streak for the Roadrunners (16-14).

Stephen F. Austin used seven pitchers to hold UTSA to the lone tally. Right-hander Cole Ridgely (1-3) received the win after tossing three shutout innings in a predetermined start.

Meanwhile, Nathan Alexander (0-1) was saddled with the loss, despite allowing only one run and striking out four over four stanzas.

Trent Bowles and Ben Brookover each tallied a pair of hits to pace the Roadrunners at the plate. Bowles notched his 13th double of the season in the eighth inning, two batters after Arias' homer.

UTSA will conclude its home stand on Wednesday night against Prairie View A&M. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
