Men's tennis to close out regular season this weekend

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team will close out its regular season schedule this weekend at the UTSA Tennis Center. The Roadrunners will host UT Arlington at 11 a.m. Friday and then take on Lamar at 2 p.m. two days later to complete the slate.

UTSA (11-11) is looking to bounce back from a 1-2 showing at last weekend's conference pod hosted at the McFarlin Tennis Center. The Roadrunners dropped matches to Southern Miss (4-0) and Rice (4-1), but defeated UAB (4-3) to salvage the weekend.

A trio of players are tied for the team lead with 10 wins in singles play.

Kai Breitbach has lost his last three individual matchups and is 10-9 overall, including a 6-8 mark at the top position. Joao Ceolin and Javier Gonzalez both own 10-7 records in their freshman campaigns. Gonzalez also has won three straight singles tilts.

The Mavericks (10-10) have dropped four of their last five contests, including back-to-back tilts at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and TCU.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals (7-10) have won four consecutive tilts. Lamar will play Incarnate Word on Saturday in San Antonio before traveling across the city the next day to meet UTSA.
