CARROLLTON, Texas — Ana Gonzalez and Julie Houston led the UTSA women's golf team to a 15th-place finish at the Bruzzy Challenge, which wrapped up on Tuesday at Maridoe Golf Club (par 72/6,335 yards).
Gonzalez tied for 41st and Houston finished in a tie for 45th to lead the Roadrunners at the two-day event. Gonzalez, a freshman from Mexico, carded a 237 (76-76-85), while Houston, a junior from Allen, posted a 238 (79-80-79).
Becky McGeehan was 60th with a 242 (83-79-80), while Nikki Long, who led UTSA with five birdies and had a hole-in-one on Monday, tied for 72nd (82-84-81—247). Madison Kidd rounded out the UTSA lineup in 77th (78-85-89—252).
The Roadrunners turned in a 959 (315-319-325) to finish 15th, six shots behind Boston College (953).
No. 38 Texas A&M captured the team title with a 907 behind individual medalist Maddie Szeryk's 216 (70-72-74). No. 34 Iowa State and 26th-ranked Houston tied for second (909), and TCU (915) and No. 42 BYU (917) finished out the top five.
UTSA will return to the course on April 16-18 at the Conference USA Championship in Fort Myers, Fla.
