SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to knock off Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 4-2, on Wednesday at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners (8-6), who have won six of their last seven matches, dropped the doubles point and the Islanders (14-3) captured the sixth singles spot before the run began.
Gabriel Bugiga put UTSA on the board with a come-from-behind, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory at the third position. Javier Gonzalez followed with a straight-set 6-1, 7-5 triumph at the fifth flight to tie the match.
Kai Breitbach put the Birds in the lead after dispatching of Francois Kellerman in straight sets (7-6, 6-3) at the top spot. Juri Reckow battled back from one set down to claim sets two and three for a 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 victory at the second position to clinch the win for the Roadrunners.
UTSA, which already has bested its win total from a year ago, will return to action on Thursday, March 15, when it travels to San Luis Obispo, Calif., to face Cal Poly.
