UTSA opens Texas Relays with three in 400m hurdles

AUSTIN – UTSA opened its competition on Thursday at the 91st annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays with two competitors in each the men's and women's 400m hurdles.

Junior Christy Gilbert, who hails from Austin, crossed the line in 1:02.42 to place fourth in her 400m hurdles heat and 41st overall. Sierra Andres, a junior from Coppell, Texas, clocked a 1:04.04 to finish fifth in her heat and 59th in the 77-competitor field.

Andrew Pirog, a sophomore from San Antonio, turned in a personal-best 53.68 to second in the first heat of the day and 47th overall among the 83-competitor field.

The Roadrunners' time at the Texas Relays continues on Friday with Justin Gerbrecht, Devall Harris and Patrick Prince competing in the prelims of the 110m hurdles, Jamiah Jackson and Victoria Rausch in the 100m hurdles prelims along with running of the men's and women's 4x400m relay prelims.
