Women's tennis caps home stand with 5-1 win over New Mexico State

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's tennis team wrapped up its four-match home stand with a 5-1 victory against New Mexico State on Sunday at the UTSA Tennis Center.

The Roadrunners (6-9), who rebounded from back-to-back losses, won the doubles point and captured four of the five singles tilts that were completed in the contest.

Kylee Kato netted the clinching point at the fifth singles position following her 7-5, 6-2 triumph versus Eli Arnaudova.

Denisa Ibrahimovic collected a 6-2, 6-4 win at the top spot, while Laura Cabrera added a 6-1, 6-4 victory in the second flight.

Charleen Tiwari netted a straight-sets win (6-4, 6-2) at the fourth position to round out the singles points for UTSA.

Additionally, Cabrera and Sonia Madroñal were 6-3 victors at the second doubles spot, while Ivana Ilic and Tiwari wrapped up the doubles point as the pairing logged a 7-5 win.

The Roadrunners will travel to play UT Arlington on Wednesday, March 28. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
