SAN ANTONIO – UTSA won the doubles point, but New Mexico rallied in singles play to win four matchups and claim a 4-2 victory on Thursday at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners (5-8), who are playing their second straight match at home, captured two of the three doubles flights to grab the early lead, but only Kylee Kato was successful in winning her singles tilt in the loss to the Lobos (3-5).
Kato picked up her second consecutive singles victory, as the sophomore notched a 6-2, 6-0 win over Hsiang-Wen Huang at the fifth position.
Kato and Denise Ibrahimovic also teamed up for a 6-4 win at the top doubles spot. Ivana Ilic and Charleen Tiwari won their matchup at No. 3 doubles to help collect the doubles point.
UTSA will return to action on Saturday, as the team hosts Central Arkansas. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.
