SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's tennis team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Lamar, 4-2, on Wednesday at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Cardinals (2-8) captured the doubles point and after Sofie Boers notched her first win of the season at No. 6 singles to tie the match, Lamar collected the top singles flight to take a 2-1 lead.
However, the Roadrunners (5-7) responded with three consecutive wins at Nos. 2, 4 and 5 singles. Kylee Kato provided the clinching point at the fifth singles position with a 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) victory over Natalia Molina.
Laura Cabrera continued her winning way with a straight-set triumph at the second spot, while Charleen Tiwari also claimed victory after earning a 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 decision against Kaela Di Giulio at the fourth position.
UTSA will return to action on Thursday against New Mexico. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center.
