Houston leads UTSA to seventh place at BYU at Entrada Classic

ST. GEORGE, Utah — Julie Houston registered her fifth career top-five finish to lead the UTSA women's golf team to seventh place at the BYU at Entrada Classic, which concluded on Tuesday at Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club (par 72/6,098 yards).

Houston carded an even-par 216 to finish in a seven-way tie for fifth in the 75-player field. The junior from Allen posted a 74 in the final round that featured a pair of birdies after opening the 54-hole event with a pair of 71s on Monday. The two-time All-Conference USA performer tallied eight birdies for the tournament en route to her season-best finish and her ninth career top 10.

Nikki Long turned in the Roadrunners' low round of the final day with an even-par 72 that was highlighted by four birdies, including three as part of a 34 on the back nine. The San Antonio Johnson High School product tied for 20th with a 223 (75-76-72) for the third top 20 of her senior season.

Ana Gonzalez was one shot behind Long in a tie for 23rd with a 224 (70-74-80), while Madison Kidd and Becky McGeehan finished out the UTSA lineup in 51st (81-75-77—233) and 61st (79-78-85—242).

The Roadrunners placed seventh with an 894 (295-296-303), just four shots behind No. 49 SMU (890).

No. 48 BYU captured the team title with an 864, followed by No. 18 Kent State (866), Texas Tech (878), Oregon State (881) and 26th-ranked North Carolina (886) in the top five of the 14-team field.

Pimnipa Panthong of Kent State claimed individual medalist honors with an 8-under 208 (67-71-70).

UTSA will return to action on March 23-25 at the LSU Tiger Classic in Baton Rouge, La.
