CORPUS CHRISTI – The UTSA women's tennis team suffered its fifth consecutive loss, as the Roadrunners dropped a 6-1 decision to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
UTSA (3-6) captured its lone point in doubles play, as the Birds won both the second and third positions.
Charleen Tiwari and Ivana Ilic teamed up to claim a 6-4 victory over Carolina Bulatovic and Maria Soler Valverde at No. 3 doubles. Laura Cabrera and Sonia Madroñal tallied a 6-4 win against Maria Maldonado and Marina Vicens Miquel at the second flight to clinch the early point.
However, the Islanders (4-4) rallied in singles competition, sweeping all six matchups to earn the match victory.
The Roadrunners are slated to return to action on Sunday against I-35 rival Texas State. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center.
