Roadrunners to play Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State this week

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's tennis team is scheduled to play two matches this week, including one at home. The Roadrunners will travel to play Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 1 p.m. Thursday. The squad will then return home to host I-35 rival Texas State at 11 a.m. Sunday at the UTSA Tennis Center.

UTSA (3-5) is looking to snap a four-match losing streak, dating back to Feb. 10. Two weekends ago, the Roadrunners went 0-3 on a road swing through Louisiana.

Laura Cabrera has continued to shine on the singles courts for the Birds, as the sophomore is 7-1 this spring. She suffered her first loss in the Roadrunners' last match at Northwestern State.

Charleen Tiwari has amassed a 5-3 record after winning back-to-back matchups, while Denisa Ibrahimovic has collected four victories at the top spot.

The Islanders (3-4) have dropped back-to-back contests against Louisiana-Lafayette and UTRGV, both by 4-3 decisions. A&M-Corpus Christi has netted two wins against Prairie View A&M and one versus Texas A&M-Kingsville this spring.

Meanwhile, the Bobcats (0-7) are still in search of their first win of the dual-match campaign. Texas State, which will play Prairie View A&M on Saturday before matching up with the Roadrunners, suffered a 4-0 loss at 39th-ranked Rice last Friday.
