SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's tennis team will resume dual-match action on Wednesday, as the team travels to Prairie View A&M for 10 a.m. tilt.
The Roadrunners (2-5) are returning to action following a 4-3 loss at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday. The Birds won the doubles point and held a 2-1 advantage before the Islanders rallied to pull out the victory.
"We had a great start to the match," UTSA head coach Rodrigo da Silva said following the loss. "We had a really great start in doubles, which is a good thing to see. It looked like we were ready to compete, but we had a sloppy start to singles."
Only freshmen Gabriel Bugiga and Joao Ceolin earned singles wins in the contest.
Bugiga picked up his first singles victory following a 6-4, 6-3 decision at the third position, while Ceolin improved to 3-4 on the year with a 7-6, 7-6 triumph at the No. 5 slot.
Kai Breitbach had his four-match winning streak snapped, as the sophomore was handed a 6-3, 7-6 loss at the top spot. Breitbach leads the Roadrunners with a 5-2 ledger on the singles courts.
