Women's golf to tee off spring season at Texas State Invitational

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's golf team will tee off the spring season on Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 12-13, at the Texas State Invitational at Plum Creek Golf Club (par 71/6,059 yards) in Kyle.
 
The Roadrunners are the defending tournament champions and will look to defend that title against Arkansas State, Central Arkansas, Georgia Southern, Houston Baptist, James Madison, Lamar, Little Rock, McNeese State, North Dakota State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State, ULM, UT Arlington, UTEP and UTRGV.
 
The field will play 36 holes on Monday and the final round is scheduled for Tuesday. Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com.
 
UTSA captured the Texas State Invitational team crown last year behind Julie Houston and Nikki Long, who tied for fourth place. Houston carded rounds of 72, 73 and 76 and Long fired a 72, 75 and 74 to help lead the Roadrunners to a five-shot win ahead of the host Bobcats.
 
The Roadrunners last competed on Oct. 30-31 at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas. Houston, a junior from Allen, Texas, tied for 21st with a 229 (73-74-82) to lead the Birds to 13th.
