Roadrunner track & field to compete at Charlie Thomas Invitational

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA indoor track & field teams continue their 2018 season on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 2-3) as the Roadrunners return to College Station for the Charlie Thomas Invitational.
 
The event
UTSA's time at the meet gets started Friday afternoon with the pentathlon at 2:30 p.m. followed by the heptathlon at 2:45 p.m. The 5,000-meter ends the Roadrunners' day with the women running at 7 p.m. and the men at 7:25 p.m.
 
On Saturday, action gets underway with the conclusion of the heptathlon at 10:30 a.m. Both the field events and running events start at 12:30 p.m. with the men's long jump and women's 60-meter prelim, respectively.

Representing the Roadrunners
The UTSA women field 45 total entries and the men 60. A team-high nine Roadrunner men will toe the line for the 400m, while a team-high six women will compete in the weight throw. UTSA will also field multis entrants for the first time this season as Gabriyella Torres and Chase Whiting will compete in the pentathlon, while Adrian Riley and Jake McDaniel will compete in the heptathlon.
 
Roadrunners in the C-USA rankings
Thirty-three UTSA student-athletes currently rank in the Conference USA top-10 in individual events. Vasha Sheriff is second in the 200m with a time of 47.18, which also ranks 28th nationally. Patrick Prince also holds the second spot in the 60m hurdles with a 7.99 (converted from altitude) clip. Luca Chatham is third in the league in the 800m with a time of 1:52.04. Off the track, Adrian Riley is third in the triple jump (7.47m) and Ty Anderson's cleared height of 2.05m is third in the high jump.
 
Both the Roadrunners men's distance medley relay and 4x400m relay rank among the top three times in C-USA. The DMR team of Zack Kovar, Skye Knight, Caleb Devereaux and Luca Chatham leads the conference with a converted time of 10:23.43. The 4x400m quartet of Andrew Pirog, Byron Taylor, Austin Crocker and Vasha Sheriff holds the third spot with a 3:13.84.
 
Victoria Rausch is the top ranked UTSA woman with the second position in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.59. Gabriyella Torres' high jump of 1.69m ranks fourth as does freshman Lacee Bares' shot put distance of 14.20m.
 
The women's distance medley relay team of Colleen Gilbert, Darionne Gibson, Stephanie Sauceda and Amber Boyd ranks second in the league with a converted time of 12:19.60.
