NACOGDOCHES – The UTSA women's tennis team used a come-from-behind performance to topple Stephen F. Austin, 4-3, in the spring season opener on Sunday at the Schlief Tennis Complex.
The Roadrunners (1-0), who won their third consecutive season opener, trailed after dropping the doubles point. The Ladyjacks (0-2) collected wins at the top two spots to put the point on the board.
UTSA then rallied to win four of the six singles matchups to claim the match. Three of the singles victories came in straight sets.
Laura Cabrera tallied the clinching point at No. 5 singles.
The Barcelona, Spain, native fell behind Armelle Cerdan, who won the first set 6-4. However, the sophomore netted a 6-2 win in set two and 6-1 victory in the final frame to clinch the match.

"I'm really proud of the girls and how they fought to pull off a 4-3 win on the road. We started really slow in doubles. We definitely need, and will improve, on that. I take responsibility for that.
"It came down to Laura (Cabrera) to clinch, and for her to win the third set 6-1 shows a lot of heart."
