IRVING — UTSA senior Brady Jones has been named to the InTouch Credit Union Conference USA Football All-Academic Team, the league office announced Friday.
The squad is comprised of student-athletes who earned a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, and serves as a starter or key reserve for their school. The roster is selected by a vote of the league's football media relations directors.
A semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, Jones carries a 3.80 GPA while working toward his master's degree in business administration. The George West, Texas, native earned his bachelor's degree in finance last December, graduating magna cum laude with a 3.78 GPA. A two-time C-USA Academic Medal recipient and three-time C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll member, he has made the UTSA President's and Dean's Lists and also has been on the university's Honor Roll five times.
On the field, Jones has caught 26 passes for 325 yards and a pair of touchdowns this season. He had a season-high 75 yards on three catches in the 44-14 win at Texas State and he hauled in three passes for 65 yards in the 51-17 Southern victory. Jones posted a season-best four receptions for 57 yards and a TD in the 20-7 triumph over Rice and he also had four catches in the 9-7 win against Marshall. His lone catch in the FIU contest resulted in a 12-yard touchdown. For his career, Jones has 57 receptions for 699 yards and five TDs.
Jones is the third Roadrunner to earn C-USA All-Academic Team accolades, joining two-time honoree Nate Leonard (2013, '14) and Eric Soza (2013).
