More from head coach Jason Marshall
On the status of the program at UTSA…

"At UTSA, we have just scratched the surface on what we can be. The sky is the limit here and I think every head coach knows what the growth of our university, the city of San Antonio and our affiliation with Conference USA affords us. It allows us to dream at the highest levels of your sport. 928 Miles (the distance from this locale to Omaha) is not a pipe dream – it's a real dream that can happen right here on the 1604 Loop in San Antonio, Texas. And… it's exciting to me that the present and future Roadrunner Baseball players that have said "yes" to this opportunity realize this potential. There are many steps in the process and patience is virtue in watching an athletic department or athletic team grow. But, we have a lot to sell at UTSA and we are proud to represent our fans and former players each year and look forward to seeing this program reach it's potential."

On the current recruiting class…
"One of the enduring qualities that has kept coming up in this recruiting class was the quality of the kids and the families that I got a chance to sit down with and share our vision at UTSA. Great programs are no doubt built on really-good baseball talent but good people as well. And, fortunately I've had a chance to see most of this early signing class play and compete and I'm excited about these guys because I think they are going to win all over this campus. Coach Blair has been one of the best evaluators in our state for a long time and Coach Carlson has brought a non-stop work ethic on the field and on the recruiting trail. That's a great combination that I feel is going to result in some great teams soon."

On playing in Conference USA…
"One of the big challenges at UTSA is the challenge that Conference USA presents – we play in a great baseball conference. Outside of Rice and Louisiana Tech, we probably don't overlap except on rare occasion with many other teams in C-USA on the recruiting trail mainly because baseball recruiting is mostly regional and also the fact we live in a baseball rich state. But, it never fails that our C-USA brethren are recruiting very well and putting good teams on the field each year. When you think that out of the last 12 years, C-USA has been at least 5th in RPI out of 33 D1 conferences, it speaks to the quality of the league and just what your up against on the week by week basis in the spring."
