Roadrunners Track & Field schedules announced

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA indoor and outdoor track & field program's 2017-18 schedules has been released and the slate features numerous nationally-renowned events, including the Dr. Sander Invitational, 2018 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and Mt. SAC Relays, along with two home outdoor meets at the Park West Athletics Complex.

"Our goal was to put together the best possible schedule to prepare us to win Conference USA championships," said director of track & field and cross country Aaron Fox. "The schedule is full of great meets and great competition."

The Roadrunners will open the indoor campaign at the Dunamis Indoor Opener on Dec. 1-2 before breaking for the holidays. Upon their return to campus, the Birds have scheduled the Ted Nelson Invitational (Jan. 12-13), Texas Tech Red Raider Invitational (Jan. 19), Dr. Sander Invitational (Jan. 26), Houston Invitational (Jan. 26-27), Charlie Thomas Invitational (Feb. 2-3) and Howie Ryan Invitational (Feb. 9-10).

The 2018 Conference USA Indoor Track & Field Championships are slated for Feb. 17-18 in Birmingham, Ala., while the 2018 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships will be contested March 9-10 in College Station.

UTSA hosts its first two events of its outdoor schedule in consecutive weeks. The UTSA Invitational will be contested March 16-17 and the Roadrunner Invitational March 23-24 at the Park West Athletics Complex.

Following the home meets, the Roadrunners will compete at the prestigious Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays (March 28-31). UTSA then heads to the Baylor Invitational (April 7) and Texas Invitational (April 13-14) before traveling west for the Mt. SAC Relays (April 19-21) in Torrance, Calif.  

The J. Fred Duckett Twilight (April 21) and Bobcat Classic (April 27-28) close out the regular season.

The 2018 Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships are May 10-13 at the Wendel D. Ley Track on the campus of Rice University.

The NCAA postseason starts March 24-25 at the NCAA Division I West Preliminary Round in Sacramento, Calif. The NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships are June 6-9 in Eugene, Ore., at Historic Hayward Field.
