Cross Country set for Aggieland Open on Friday

SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men's and women's cross country programs are set to compete in their third event of the season at Friday's Aggieland Open in College Station.
 
The event
The Aggie Open will be contested Watts Cross Country Course in College Station. The fast course, which provides good footing throughout, will be ran at a 5,000-meter distance for both the men's and women's races. The women's race will start at 5:45 p.m., followed by the men's event at 6:15 p.m.
 
The competition
The nine-team Aggieland Open will feature both the men's and women's programs from Baylor, Prairie View A&M, Sam Houston State, Tarleton State, Texas A&M, Texas Southern, ULM, UTA, and UTSA.
 
Representing the Roadrunners
Eight men and seven women will represent UTSA at the meet. The men's lineup features three freshmen and five sophomores, while the women's contingent is composed of two freshmen and seven sophomores. Omar Bekdache, Christian Castellanos, Victoria Gaytan, Kaela Maldonado and Jacian Smith will make their collegiate debuts, while second-year Birds Lynette Amaram, Sarah Estrada, Olivia Flores, Edgar Garcia, Marcus Guajardo, Dario Johnson, Skye Knight, Mason Riley, Rian Rodriguez and Jayela Slack round out the Roadrunner harriers.
