UTSA Men's Basketball
The UTSA men's basketball team enters the 2017-18 season fresh off a 14-win campaign -- the program's most wins since the 2011-12 season. Included in those 14 victories were 11 home wins and the program's first Conference USA Tournament victory.
Second-year head coach Steve Henson returns eight student-athletes, including three starters, from last season's squad that ranked in the top third in the nation in defense and 26th in total rebounding. The returners are headlined by 2016-17 Conference USA All-Freshman selection Byron Frohnen, along with point guard Giovanni De Nicolao and forward Nick Allen.
With the wealth of experience returning and addition of seven newcomers, the Roadrunners are well positioned to make a run at a Conference USA Championship.
UTSA Women's Basketball
Women's basketball returns the Convocation Center under the direction of new head coach Kristen Holt. Holt and the Roadrunners will look to expanded on the 2016-17 season that saw UTSA deliver a league-leading defensive field-goal percentage of 38.5 percent and rank second in C-USA in fewest turnovers and third in steals.
Veterans Crystal Chidomere and Carlie Heineman will pace the Roadrunner squad that returns nine letter winners from last season. The seniors played in all 30 games for UTSA last year and combined for 34 double-figuring scoring performances.
