SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA cross country program's 2017 schedule has been released and the slate features six regular season meets in the state of Texas, one at Notre Dame and postseason competition in Mississippi, Texas and Kentucky.
"Coach [David] Hartman has put together a great cross country schedule that will prepare our teams for a very successful season," said director of track & field and cross country Aaron Fox.
The Roadrunners will open the campaign on Friday, Sept. 1, at the Aggie Opener in College Station and will follow two weeks later with a trip to Austin for the Texas Invitational (Sept. 14).
UTSA will then split its squads and compete in both the Islander Splash in Corpus Christi and return to College Station for the Texas A&M Invitational on Sept. 23.
A week later the Roadrunners travel north to South Bend, Ind., to take part in the Notre Dame Invitational (Sept. 30). The trip to the Hoosier state is followed by the Aggie Open (Oct. 6) and the Houston Baptist Invitational (Oct. 13), in what will be the squad's final postseason tune-ups.
Postseason competition begins on Oct. 28 in Jackson, Miss., with the Conference USA Championships. The Roadrunners men finished eighth at last year's league meet, while the women were ninth.
Texas A&M hosts the NCAA South Central Regional meet on Nov. 10, and the 2017 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships are set for Nov. 18 in Louisville, Ky.
