SAN ANTONIO – Jessica Pikoff netted a goal in each half to lead Texas State to a 2-0 victory over UTSA in an exhibition match on Friday evening at Park West Athletics Complex.
Pikoff scored the opening goal in the 32nd minute after Haley Groff and Sydney Kammer set her up with a ball played across the box. Pikoff then guided the ball inside the far post to break the scoring seal.
Pikoff added the final tally of the night in the 73rd minute after one-timing a pass back across the box from Rachel Grout into the back of the net.
The Roadrunners took nine shots during the 90-minute contest, including six in the opening frame. Jasmine Marwan, Marianne Hernandez and Nicole Galan all put attempts on target but were saved by a combined effort between two Bobcat goalkeepers.
UTSA's best scoring chance in the second half was thwarted by the Bobcat back line as Kaja Skare took a shot from six yards out that was blocked.
Skare led all players with three shot attempts.
The Roadrunners will return to action on Sunday in another exhibition tilt against Houston. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
