SAN ANTONIO – UTSA will take to the pitch this weekend for the first time in 2017, as the Roadrunners welcome Texas State and Houston to Park West Athletics Complex for a pair of exhibition matches. UTSA will face the Bobcats at 7 p.m. Friday, while the Roadrunners and Cougars will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday. Admission to both contests is free.
Led by fourth-year head coach Greg Sheen, UTSA welcomes back 15 letter winners from last year's squad that logged a 7-12 overall mark. The Roadrunners also add 12 newcomers to the fold, including one transfer.
UTSA's returns 72 percent of its scoring from a year ago, including both of its leading goal-getters.
Senior forward Kaja Skare netted a team-high seven goals and tallied three assists to lead the offensive attack. Sophomore forward Jordyn Lacy scored five times and posted a team-leading five assists en route to Conference USA All-Freshman team honors.
Texas State completed the 2016 season with a 6-9-3 overall record, while Houston tallied a 6-7-3 ledger.
