UTSA announces 2017 schedule

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head soccer coach Greg Sheen announced Tuesday his program's 2017 schedule, which features 11 home fixtures and a 10-match Conference USA ledger.

"We are very excited about this year's schedule," Sheen said. "Our non-conference opponents should more than prepare us for Conference USA competition, and our fans will be excited to see some Power Five conference teams coming to play us here in San Antonio. We're really looking forward to the season."

The Roadrunners will host a pair of exhibition matches against Texas State on Aug. 11 and Houston two days later.

UTSA officially will open its 12th season of play and fifth home slate at the Park West Athletics Complex when it hosts Abilene Christian on Aug. 18.

The Birds will travel to Fort Worth to face TCU on Aug. 20 and then return home to battle Stephen F. Austin on Aug. 25 before closing out the month with a road match at crosstown foe Incarnate Word on Aug. 27.

UTSA will play four non-conference contests during a two-week span in September with home matches against Oklahoma State (Sept. 3) and Colorado (Sept. 10) and road dates with Baylor (Sept. 1) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Sept. 8).

The Roadrunners' fifth season as a member of C-USA will kick off on Sept. 17 at Louisiana Tech followed by a second straight road match at Middle Tennessee one week later.

UTSA will host Old Dominion in its league home opener on Sept. 29 and Charlotte on Oct. 1. Other home C-USA matches include UAB (Oct. 15), WKU (Oct. 19) and UTEP (Oct. 27). The Roadrunners will be on the road for league play at Rice (Oct. 6), North Texas (Oct. 8) and FIU (Oct. 22).

The C-USA Championship will be hosted by Florida Atlantic on Nov 1-5 in Boca Raton, Fla.
