Three UTSA programs recognized by NCAA on Wednesday

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — UTSA's women's cross country, men's golf and volleyball programs received the NCAA Public Recognition Award, the organization announced on Wednesday.

The honor is based on having Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores among the top 10 percent nationally and the most recent APRs are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 academic years. All three programs achieved a perfect score of 1,000 during that time frame.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester or quarter by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. It includes eligibility, retention and graduation in the calculation and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport.

The Roadrunners women's cross country program was a repeat recipient after being honored a year ago.
