Roadrunners wrap up competition at NCAA Championships Preliminary Rounds

AUSTIN — The UTSA men's track & field team wrapped up competition at this weekend's NCAA Championships Preliminary Rounds on Saturday.

Patrick Prince raced to a time of 14.10 in the 110-meter hurdles, which was good for 18th in the field of 24 quarterfinalists, but he did not advance to the national semifinals.

Meanwhile, the quartet of Kaylon Sellers, Byron Taylor, Mikael Dawkins and Desmond Jefferson passed the baton in 40.20 en route to a 21st-place finish in the 400m relay.

The Roadrunners' other relay foursome — Vasha Sheriff, Jefferson, Mason Loiodice and Taylor — passed the stick in 3:18.14 in the 1,600m relay, which ranked 23rd in the field of 24.

UTSA also had two athletes compete in field events during the final day of the three-day meet.

Sellers skipped to a measurement of 45-9 (13.94m) in the triple jump and that ranked 46th in the field of 48, while Ty Anderson did not clear the bar in the high jump and the All-American's season came to an end.

"We had a great meet and I am extremely pleased with how all of our athletes competed," Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox said. "We were in the mix with some great athletes from quality teams."

Adrian Riley will represent UTSA in the long jump at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday, June 7, in Eugene, Ore. The junior placed fifth with a career-best leap of 25-6 ¼ (7.78m) on Thursday.
