AUSTIN — Paige Patterson was unable to advance to the national semifinals in the 400 meters on Friday at the NCAA Championships Preliminary Rounds.
Patterson raced to a time of 53.63 in her specialty event, but she did not advance after placing 16th in the field of 24 sprinters. Only the top 12 finishers moved onto the national semifinals that will take place in two weeks in Eugene, Ore.
"It's bittersweet to know that my college track career is almost over, but I'm blessed that I was given this opportunity to be part of such a great team," Patterson said. "I'm happy knowing that I left everything on the track for my last regional meet and while giving it my all. Although I was unable to qualify for nationals in the open 400, I'm going to give everything I have left for tomorrow's relay."
The three-day meet will conclude on Saturday.
