IRVING — Barrett Brock and Victor Perez were two of 12 men's track & field student-athletes that were named to this year's InTouch Credit Union Conference USA All-Academic Team, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Brock, who maintains a 3.57 GPA in business has competed in a half dozen meets during the outdoor campaign (he did not have any indoor eligibility remaining this year).
The senior from Hallsville is coming off a gold medal in the pole vault at the Conference USA Championships. He was victorious with a new personal record of 16-9 ¼ (5.11m), which was a four-inch improvement from his previous career best. It was the program's first-ever league crown in the event. Brock added a second-place performance at the season-opening UTSA Invitational with a clearance of 15-9 (4.80m).
He is a four-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Meanwhile, Perez, who owns a 3.55 GPA in electrical engineering, landed on the squad for the second consecutive year.
The senior from San Antonio has competed in a combined 12 meets between the indoor and outdoor seasons this year.
Perez placed third in the discus with a season-best measurement of 167-4 (51.01m) at the C-USA Outdoor meet. He won the hammer with a new program record at the season-opening UTSA Invitational and added three more podium finishes in his specialty event during the spring.
Perez placed fifth in the weight throw at the C-USA Indoor (64-0 ½/19.52m) and registered a new school mark in the event with a toss of 64-5 (19.63m), which was good for a gold medal at the Armory Invitational.
He is a four-time member of the league's Commissioner's Honor Roll and also was a 2015 USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree.
Brock and Perez are scheduled to continue their final seasons at this weekend's NCAA Championships Preliminary Rounds in Austin.
