Anderson named Conference USA Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday

IRVING — Ty Anderson was named Conference USA Field Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Anderson, a 2016 second-team All-American, was runner up in the high jump on Saturday at the Longhorn Invitational with a season-best clearance of 7-0 ¼ (2.14m) and it marked his third top-two finish in five outings this spring. The junior from Luling now stands alone atop the Conference USA standings in addition to ranking 32nd nationally.

It marked the third time that a Roadrunner has earned a weekly award from the conference this season, as Parick Prince was tabbed Track Athlete of the Week back on March 21 and Adrian Riley was honored as the circuit's Field Athlete of the Week the following Tuesday.

UTSA will take this weekend off before traveling to El Paso next week for the C-USA Championships, which are scheduled to be contested from May 11-14.
