SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will wrap up its regular season this weekend with matches at New Mexico State and UTEP. The Roadrunners (9-8) will square off with the Aggies (8-11) at 1 p.m. (CT) on Friday and the Miners (4-11) at noon (CT) two days later.
UTSA, which has played just one match in the past 20 days, was edged by a score of 4-3 last Wednesday at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Miriam Rosell Canudas, who returned to the ITA national singles rankings on Tuesday at No. 99, continues to lead the Roadrunners this spring. The senior from Torello, Spain, still is undefeated in dual-match play at 17-0 and she has dropped just three sets this season.
Meanwhile, the doubles duo of Lina Hallgren and Charleen Tiwari own a squad-best 10-4 record at the third spot in the lineup.
UTEP, which has lost its last four outings, is led by Vivienne Kulicke, who has eight singles wins this spring. She also has teamed up with Milou Pietersz for a team-best nine doubles triumphs.
New Mexico State leads the all-time series with UTSA by a count of 11-9, but the Roadrunners have won three of the past four matchups, including a 4-3 triumph in the last meetings back on Feb. 28, 2015.
UTSA and UTEP have split their 18 previous encounters. The Miners were victorious by a score of 4-1 last March 19 in the Alamo City.
