UTSA to continue home stand against Houston Baptist on Tuesday evening

SAN ANTONIO — Fresh off a series win against UTEP, UTSA will continue its eight-game home stand against Houston Baptist on Tuesday, April 4. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Roadrunner Field.

This will mark the 25th meeting between UTSA and the Huskies of the Southland Conference. The Roadrunners lead the all-time series, 19-5, including a 10-2 advantage in San Antonio, and they have won four of the last five matchups.

UTSA (14-22) took two of three games from UTEP this past weekend and Celeste Loughman hit .583 (7-for-12) with a double, one home run and six RBIs to lead the offense.

Loughman and fellow freshman Lindsey Stewart both are hitting a team-best .397 this season, while Hailey Garza (.339), Angelica Nino (.319), Rylee Rodriguez (.316), Taylor Oberg (/315) and Bailee Baldwin (.305) also are batting better than .300.

Nicole Merrill owns the team's top earned-run average of 4.16 and she has struck out a team-high 46 batters, while Lizzy Fox leads UTSA with nine wins and 27 appearances.

Houston Baptist enters the game with a 10-16 record after sweeping Incarnate Word at home over the weekend. Cecilia Bauer leads the bats with a .353 average, four home runs and 13 RBIs, while Emily Mueller owns a 4-11 record, 4.69 ERA and 30 punchouts to headline the pitching staff.
