IRVING — Miriam Rosell Canudas was one of 12 singles players named first-team All-Conference USA, the league office announced on Friday.
Rosell Canudas won a total of 31 matches in 2016-17, including 20 in dual-match singles play this spring. She won her first 20 dual-match singles contests and dropped just three sets in the process before dropping her lone match in the season finale against No. 110 Lindsey Hodge of Rice in the Conference USA Tournament quarterfinals.
The senior from Torello, Spain, became the first ranked player in UTSA history when she debuted at No. 51 back in January. She ended up playing 14 tilts while ranked this spring.
Rosell Canudas added 10 victories in doubles play with true freshman Kylee Kato. The pair opened the dual-match campaign with a seven-match winning streak.
It marks the fourth consecutive year that Rosell Canudas has earned postseason accolades as a singles player. She also was a first-team honoree as a sophomore and named a second-team performer as a freshman and again a year ago.
