AUSTIN — Victor Perez placed fifth in the hammer to lead the UTSA men's track & field team during Friday's opening day of this weekend's Longhorn Invitational.
Perez registered a measurement of 203-4 (61.99m) on his sixth and final attempt of the competition and that was good for fifth in the field of 17 throwers. It marked the second-best throw of his career.
Other Roadrunners competing in the event included Vincent Perez (14th/172-8/52.62m) and Corey Jennings (16th/PR 146-10/44.77m).
Through two scored events, UTSA stands fifth in the team standings with its four points. Michigan leads the way with 27 points, while Stanford is second with 23. Meet host Texas and TCU are tied for third with seven points.
The two-day meet will conclude on Saturday.
