Roadrunners to head north for Longhorn Invitational

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's track & field team will return to action this weekend when it travels to Austin for the Longhorn Invitational. The two-day meet is scheduled to get underway on Friday afternoon at Mike A. Myers Stadium (click here for a complete meet schedule).

Auburn, Houston, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, Stanford, TCU, Tulane, Virginia Tech and Western Kentucky are expected to join the Roadrunners and host Longhorns for UTSA's penultimate meet leading up to next month's Conference USA Championships, which are scheduled to be contested from May 11-14 in El Paso.

The Roadrunners are coming off a very strong showing at last Saturday's J. Fred Duckett Twilight in Houston.

UTSA was led by Mia Hicks, who extended her program record in the discus and led a parade of three victories and a total of eight podium performances with her winning throw of 159-4 (48.56m).

Meanwhile, N'Dia Warren-Jacques topped the field of 21 shot putters with her measurement of 47-7 (14.50m) and it marked her second gold medal of the campaign. In fact, she has finished in the top two in four of five meets this season.

Shalise Borden picked up the Roadrunners' other victory of the day when she won the hammer with a throw of 180-9 (55.09m), which came on her first attempt of the competition.

UTSA continues to pace the circuit in a pair of running disciplines (100m/400m relay) while ranking among the top three in four others.
