SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will host Houston Baptist in the latter end of a home-and-home series at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Roadrunner Field.
The Roadrunners (20-18) won the first meeting by a score of 18-6 in Houston, which were the most runs scored this season by UTSA.
The Roadrunners come off their third Conference USA series win of the season after reigning C-USA Pitcher of the Week Nolan Trabanino threw a complete game shutout, the first of his career, on Saturday against Florida Atlantic. UTSA now sits alone in sixth place in the league standings with its 9-9 league mark.
As a team, UTSA is hitting .301 and it has five players hitting .300 or better. Ben Brookover remains the Roadrunners' top hitter with his .367 batting average on the season. The San Antonio native had his 14-game hit streak halted in the series opener against FAU, but he now has reached safely in 17 consecutive games.
Houston Baptist returns to the Alamo City after taking on Southland Conference foe Incarnate Word this past weekend. The Huskies swept the series to move to 20-15 on the season. HBU heads into Tuesday's contest riding a six-game win streak and it has won seven of its last eight overall.
Leading the charge for the Huskies is Spencer Halloran, as he is hitting at a .346 clip. He leads the team in hits (45), runs scored (32), triples (4), home runs (3), RBIs (22), total bases (69), slugging percentage (.531) and walks (21). Zane Otten adds a .333 average to the lineup and he leads the team with 12 stolen bases.
Meanwhile, reliever Daniel Endsley leads all Huskies pitchers with a 1.95 ERA in 11 appearances, including three starts. He has tossed 37.1 innings with 28 strikeouts and 14 walks.
