Roadrunners to host Florida Atlantic in three-game series beginning Friday

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will continue its five-game home stand this weekend when it hosts Florida Atlantic for a three-game set. The series will get underway at 6 p.m. on Friday at Roadrunner Field.

Following its series at FIU, UTSA (18-17) remains tied for sixth in the standings with Marshall and Middle Tennessee with a 7-8 Conference USA record. The Roadrunners hosted neighbor Incarnate Word on Tuesday and rolled to a 16-0 victory. It was the second-most runs scored this season behind the team's 18-6 victory at Houston Baptist.

Ben Brookover continued his hot streak at the plate after going 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBIs against the Cardinals. The San Antonio native heads into the weekend riding a career-high 14-game hitting streak. Brookover also sits atop the season stat sheet with his .388 average on the strength of 31 hits, including six for extra base hits, 12 runs scored, 22 RBIs and 10 walks.

UTSA has a total of six players batting .300 or better, including Bryan Arias (.347) who leads the team in six offensive categories.

The Roadrunners will feature a new rotation this weekend. UTSA will go with right-hander Chris Muller on Friday night. Muller, who leads the pitching staff with 43 strikeouts and a 1.48 ERA, will be making his first start of the season.

Florida Atlantic sits in the passenger seat in the C-USA standings with its 11-4 league mark, behind Southern Miss. The Owls took two of three from Marshall in their last league matchup, dropping the series finale. FAU dropped an 8-2 decision at Miami (Fla.) on Wednesday.

Leading the charge for Florida Atlantic is Tyler Frank. The infielder is batting .351 on the season and he has started in all 36 contests. Frank leads the team in hits (53), runs scored (38), doubles (11), RBIs (33), total bases (85) and walks (29).

On the mound, the Owls will go with Alex House on Friday night and he leads the pitching staff with a 3.99 ERA and 3-1 record. House has pitched two complete games and logged 56.1 innings. He has struck out 41 batters and walked 15.
