SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head women's golf coach Carrie Parnaby announced on Wednesday that she has signed Alexandra Lessing (Gundelfingen, Germany/Albert-Schweitzer HS). She will join the Roadrunners for the 2017-18 season.
"Alexandra has a very good junior golf background and has a lot of experience at the international level," Parnaby said. "What (assistant coach) Summer (Batiste) and I are most excited about is her excitement to be part of our program and her sense of urgency to get things done and work hard. She will be a great addition to our team and fit in well with our high academic standards."
An internationally-experienced player, Lessing has competed in 12 different countries and posted numerous top-10 finishes. She was the runner-up at the International Match Play Trophy and she also finished fifth at both the Liechtenstein Open and the RB German International Junior Championship, where she carded a 73-74-71—218.
Lessing has captured individual medalist honors at numerous junior and ladies club championships, along with winning the U18 Baden-Württernberg Girls Team Championship. She also has turned in two top 10s at the German Girls Championship.
A member of the Baden-Württernberg state team for six years, she was an all-state selection twice and helped the team to back-to-back runner-up finishes at the national event.
Also a standout student, Lessing received the Albert-Schweitzer High School multiple awards of excellence, is a member of the German e-fellows Society and carries a 3.95 GPA.
