Roadrunners to compete at pair of meets on West Coast this weekend

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's track & field team will head to the West Coast this weekend for a pair of meets. The Roadrunners will compete at the three-day Mt. SAC Relays beginning on Thursday, as well as the Beach Invitational on Saturday.

The Mt. SAC Relays is an annual track & field festival that originally was an August event but now is contested in mid-April each year. The relays were started by then-track & field coach Hilmer Lodge back in 1959 and the meet attracts all levels and disciplines of the sport and several thousand athletes participate each year. Complete meet information — including entries, schedule and live results — can be found here.

Meanwhile, The Beach Invitational features some of the best athletes in the world, as they will compete at Jack Rose Track. A year ago, seven stadium records fell and several athletes who competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials and the Summer Olympic Games set 15 new meet records. Complete meet information can be found here.

N'Dia Warren-Jacques won the shot put to highlight the Roadrunners' day of action at last Saturday's Houston Alumni Invitational.

Warren-Jacques led a 1-2-4 finish by UTSA throwers in her specialty event with her winning measurement of 45-2 ½ (13.78m). Meanwhile, Maia Campbell placed second with a toss of 44-8 ¼ (13.62m) and Mia Hicks was fourth with her put of 43-4 ½ (13.22m).
