IRVING — Miriam Rosell Canudas was named Conference USA Athlete of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Rosell Canudas, the nation's 99th-ranked singles player, ran her dual match singles record to a perfect 19-0 this spring with two more victories, all in straight sets, last weekend for the Roadrunners. The senior from Torello, Spain, opened her week with a 6-2, 6-3 victory on Friday against New Mexico State's Rimpledeep Kaur and she followed that with a 6-1, 6-4 win two days later against UTEP's Milou Pietersz to wrap up the regular season. She has dropped just three sets in her final campaign and she has been nationally-ranked in 12 of her contests.
UTSA (11-8) will open C-USA Tournament play next Thursday, April 20. The four-day postseason event will be played in Denton.
