SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will begin a five-match home stand at 2 p.m. on Thursday when it hosts unbeaten SIU Edwardsville (9-0) at the UTSA Tennis Center. Admission to all Roadrunners tennis home contests is free.
The busy week will continue into the weekend, as UTSA (6-6) also will play No. 42 Tulane (14-4) and Prairie View A&M (3-17) at 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, respectively, before welcoming former Southland Conference foe Central Arkansas (11-1) for an 11 a.m. tilt on Sunday.
All told, the Roadrunners will host the five matches over an eight-day span, as Colorado State (3-6) will come to the Alamo City for a 3 p.m. contest next Thursday, March 16, in what will be the club's final home tilt of the spring.
UTSA dropped two of three matches last weekend in Colorado Springs, Colo., with its lone triumph coming in a 4-3 victory on Sunday morning against Idaho State.
Miriam Rosell Canudas continues to pace the team this year, as she now is a perfect 12-0 in dual-match singles play this season. After dropping out of the Oracle/ITA Rankings for two weeks, the three-time All-Conference USA selection returned at 103rd in Tuesday's latest edition.
Rosell Canudas also has teamed up with Kylee Kato for a team-leading seven doubles victories and they are joined by Lina Hallgren and Charleen Tiwari, who also have won seven matches.
The Roadrunners never have played SIUE in program history, while they have split two previous matchups with the Green Wave. UTSA won its inaugural meeting with the Lady Panthers a year ago and it has been victorious in five of its half dozen all-time encounters with the Sugar Bears.
