SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA men's tennis team will hit the road to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for the third time this season on Wednesday. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
The Islanders (11-7) have beaten the Roadrunners the previous two meetings this spring by scores of 4-0 in the H-E-B Tournament of Champions on March 3 in Corpus Christi and 6-1 on Feb. 8 in San Antonio.
The Roadrunners (5-14) are coming off Saturday's 4-0 setback at Lamar.
Takeru Watanabe continues to lead UTSA with seven singles victories during the dual-match campaign. The sophomore from Japan, who garnered Conference USA Athlete of the Week honors on March 21, has won his last three contests.
In doubles, the tandem of Fabian Brand and Igor Cantanhede has posted a team-high six wins, three each at the top two spots in the lineup.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has lost its last three matches, all at the Rice Spring Invitational last weekend in Houston. William Mottet leads the squad with a 10-3 singles record and he has teamed up with Kevin Bettendroffer for a team-best 9-3 doubles ledger.
