SAN ANTONIO — UTSA racked up four podium finishes on Friday and the Roadrunners sit on top of the team standings after five scored events at this weekend's UTSA Invitational.
N'Dia Warren-Jacques placed second in the shot put with a measurement of 49-2 ¼ (14.99m), which now stands as the third-best performance in program history. Texas Tech's Crystal Onwukaife captured the gold medal with her put of 49-11 (15.21m).
Meanwhile, Jemira Thomlinson also picked up a silver medal in the javelin with her career-best toss of 117-0 (35.67m). Gabriyella Torres was third with a personal-best throw of 115-10 (35.32m). Texas' Haley Crouser won the event with a meet-record measurement of 168-8 (51.41m).
Shalise Borden picked up the Roadrunners' other top-three performance of the day after finishing third in the hammer with the second-best effort in school annals (186-0/56.69m). Purdue's Sarah Loesch won the event with a mark of 188-10 (57.55m).
UTSA has scored 40 points through the opening five events, while Purdue and Texas Tech have netted 33 and 20, respectively, to round out the top three.
The season-opening two-day meet will conclude on Saturday.
